It's been a while...

It's been a while since I last posted. Can't believe how time has flown. Anyway, I've uploaded a new version of Rocket Rumble!
Since the last post I've mainly been learning new things on Udemy. Music production using FL Studio, I finished a 3D Unity course by Gamedev.tv and started course on Blender basics and Krita.

So, what's in the latest upload?
The menu/title screen has an option! Yeah, big deal, there's a start button. There's also music on the title screen, produced by yours truly.
The blocks of the environment now have a basic texture.
Start and finish pads have been replaced with Warp Gates, so now the player enters and exits a level with a nice little warp effect.
There's a new level which introduces two new features - A seeking space mine which will home in on you if it can see you and you're close enough, and an energy/light/electric field door thingy which can be opened by shooting it's control button. The sound effects are me making silly noises into my phone and applying effects in Audacity.
Under the covers I've been doing a lot of code refactoring to make the code a lot easier to follow. It was getting kind of messy in there and I was starting to lose track of the functions I had and what the did.

So not a lot to look at, but all changes for the better, I think.

Time to start thinking about power-ups and adding a risk factor to getting them.
Hope to add something to the last few levels of world one.

Oh yeah, the ship has a tractor beam by pressing S. It doesn't actually do anything yet, but I hope it will form part of future objectives.
